Project Zaku: Harry Potter

Wow.. I've been busy. I did get to finish off another Zaku for a friend. He wanted a themed one. It was a special request.. as I've known him for 30 years now... maybe more.

This one was fun!

Chest 2

Resisted going out today. Even though it's absolutely gorgeous out there. :( But, it payed off. I got the chest ~85% completed! (around 95% fabrication done). All designed on the fly. Measured and cut on the fly too. It's just old school sculpting... but with foam.

I'll just post random progress pics...

The male clip that will clip into the helmet. This is what will hold down the weight.

Muzzle It

Muzzle:

Here I'm using some thin foam-core boards to build up my shape for the muzzle.

This area is pretty complex in shape. Has so many angles coming from all sides. No right angles anywhere. So many curves. I have to measure everything twice before cutting once. Always a good carpenter's rule.

 Muzzle box finished.

PROJECT: Zaku II

This will be another robot from the Gundam universe. It's one of the baddies. Zaku II. Another costume build for this Halloween. Going to be for Persephanie this time. So, it'll be a foam build.

The requirements:
- It needs to be super light
- Great visibility
- Have lights, just like dad's
- Biggest requirement: Persephanie's favourite colour: purple

This should be a quick build. Going to be using the minicel foam (the same foam as the exercise mats). I'll be using Persephanie's bicycle helmet for the form building. As it's the perfect shape as the Zaku head. And by forming it on top of the helmet, it also makes it the perfect size as well. It'll look like a chibi version.. just like dad's!! It'll be both cute and awesome. I'll add the usual detail touches on this one as well.
